Olympic gold medal winning former University of Washington Head Volleyball Coach Bill Neville has agreed to become the head coach of the Sound Premier Volleyball Team through the 2013 exhibition season.  Neville brings over 45 years of National, collegiate and club coaching experience to the Sound Premier Volleyball Team’s second year of existence.  The team is part of the Premier Volleyball League, a grassroots effort by USA Volleyball to create a professional volleyball league in the United States.
“Having a coach with the history of success that Bill Neville has will help the Sound Premier Volleyball Team accomplish its mission of showcasing the best women’s volleyball in the Puget Sound Region,” said John Bryant, USA Volleyball Puget Sound Region Commissioner.
Neville won the Gold Medal in the 1984 Olympics as an assistant coach to current USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal with a team that included the current USA Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly.  He was the first ever full time head coach for the Canadian National Team and took them to the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.  He has coached the University of Washington and Montana State University’s women’s programs.

Neville is currently the Owner of Nevillisms, a volleyball training facility in Bellevue Washington, and serves as the National Commissioner of Coaching Education for USA Volleyball.  In 2012 he was inducted into both the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the USA Volleyball Puget Sound Region Hall of Fame.  He was also recognized by USA Volleyball as an All Time Great Coach.
With the Sound Premier Volleyball Team, Neville will be coaching 18 of the best female volleyball players from the Puget Sound Region in exhibition matches and tournaments organized to help inspire, motivate and develop the next generation of volleyball athletes.  The exhibitions will be held at volleyball specific facilities and Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the region.  The Sound Premier Volleyball Team Players will be conducting skills clinics for junior athletes prior to each event.

Open Tryouts for the Sound Premier Volleyball team will be held at Nevillisms in Bellevue on February 3rd  from 9am to 2:30pm.  The first exhibition will be at the Lake Stevens Volleyball Training Center in February.  More information is available at soundvolleyball.com.
